SEO FAQ’s

Answers to some of the questions people ask

Yes, we are. Slinky is 100% Australian-owned. Our office is in Perth. We service clients in all Australian cities and regions as well as internationally. Our staff are digital marketing experts, writers, programmers, designers, and developers.

This depends on many factors. How old your website is (a brand new website, just launched, will take considerably longer to rank than a website that is ten years old). The current authority of your website. How many backlinks you already have and the quality of those backlinks etc. Our SEO team will give you a better idea during your free consultation/website audit process.

We know Perth businesses and what works in our local market. Our team focuses on what actually brings in customers, not just random traffic. Plus, we explain everything in clear terms – no tech jargon or confusing reports.

No. While search optimisation works best over time, we don’t believe in forcing long contracts. Our clients stay with us because they see real results.

Every business is different, so we create custom quotes based on your goals and current situation. We’ll give you a clear breakdown of costs after reviewing your website.

You get monthly reports showing exactly what we’ve done and the results we’re achieving. We track everything from website visitors to how many become customers.

You will note that we called it ‘SEO’ competitor analysis because this is not the only competitor analysis that you can undertake. Depending on the type of business you are and which niche you operate in, there are other ways you can analyse your competitors. One example is that you could visit their premises to see how it is laid out and how welcoming it is. You could also mystery shop them by sending a friend to experience how your competitor treats their customers and the levels of customer service they offer. Another analysis might be their finances by checking their publicly published financial details. We mention these because you should not just seek to analyse your competitors on one level, such as SEO, but do so for as many as you can. As for SEO competitive analysis, it will tell what your competitors are or are not doing to boost their rankings. It can be done because any website online is effectively an open book for SEO. After all, if they were not, Google would not be able to crawl and then assign them a ranking for specific keywords.

We could create an entire website on this question alone, given how many tools there are available to help with Perth SEO. Rather than name specific tools, we will state the main functions you should have them for. One of the most important is a keyword research tool that will help you identify what keywords you should be targeting. Also, you want to know what your competitors are up to, so tools that can crawl their sites, identify their backlinks, and the anchor text they are using will be enormously helpful. Thankfully, some tools can do this for you too. You almost certainly want to sign up for the Google Search Console, as that lets you analyse exactly what Google is seeing when they crawl your website and, more importantly, what actions you should take if there are any errors or issues they’ve identified.

There are many things you can do that can help improve your Google ranking, and having good website design is one of them. A properly designed and optimised website is the foundation upon which your Google rankings can be built, so getting it right is paramount. The first thing a well-designed website will have is an underlying structure, which helps Google understand what your website is about. This relates to coding and metadata, which help identify the keywords you wish to rank for when Google comes crawling your website. Next, there is the content which you plan to have on your website. Again, this forms parts of the design process, and if done correctly, content can have multiple benefits for your ranking. Again, Google will see the content and use it to further identify your website’s keywords. Content also helps your website engage with visitors. The more engaged they are the more likely they are to like your website, take an interest in your business, and become a paying customer. The engagement we mentioned also plays a role in the length of time visitors spend on your website. There will be other design factors that contribute to this too, such as the layout, the colours and how easy it is to navigate. The longer visitors stay on your site the better, for a couple of reasons. One is if they remain on your website, the more chance there is that they will take one of the actions you wish them to. As they browse through, read content, or watch a video they become more interested in what’s there and may leave their email or phone number, to receive more information. The other is that Google can measure how long someone remains on a website, having clicked through to it from their search results. If Google sees they land there and then click away immediately that is a red flag for them, and likely to see that website’s rankings drop. However, if visitors stay on a website for a decent length of time, it is what Google likes to see, and of course, they’ll boost the ranking of that site.

An SEO audit is one of the first things to be done if you have an existing website. This will establish how good or how bad your current SEO is. Unless you have SEO knowledge of how search engines rank websites, it is best to employ the services of an SEO consultant who will have the tools and expertise to conduct a comprehensive SEO audit for you. After that, they will be able to inform you what actions need to be taken to optimise your website entirely. Get a FREE SEO AUDIT NOW.
